#1. Rügen

In Germany, the largest island by area is Rügen. It is located off the Pomeranian coast in the Baltic Sea and belongs to the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Visitors describe it as the most beautiful place. It is the second most popular city of the German Isles, because of its many different stunning views: white sandy beaches, idyllic bays, peninsulas and lakes, tree-lined avenues, rugged cliffs and lush beech forests mark the island of Rügen.

Caspar David Friedrich also captures the wonderful landscape in his painting Chalk Cliffs On Rugen. The King’s Chair served as a reference for his piece of art. These white chalk cliffs are the best-known chalk cliff and are also very famous in Rügen.

Cape Arkona is a 45-metre high cape on the island and it forms the Wittow peninsula. It belongs to the municipality of Putgarten and receives about 800.000 visitors annually. More over, there are two lighthouses, a navigation tower and two military bunkers. Another attraction is the Granitz Hunting Lodge in Rügen. It has over 200,000 visitors per year and is located in the middle of the forested Granitz ridge, which covers an are of about 1,000 hectare.

#2. Sylt

The island of Sylt is in northern Germany and it is the largest island in North Frisia. The outline of Sylt resembles a ballerina, and is rated to the most famous and expensive German islands. In Germany, many tourists have a sticker of Sylt on their cars to clarify their vacation on Sylt.

More over, Biikebrennen is an annual celebration in North Frisia and is a living on tradition. The meaning has changed over time, but the ritual still exists.

The Denghoog is a Neolithic passage grave, which was built around 3000 B.C. and is an artificial hill. It has a height of around 3.5 metres and a diameter at the base of around 32 metres. Many tourists have a chance to visit the inside of the grave and are enriched with new experiences.

#3. Norderney

Norderney is an East Frisian Island off the North Sea coast of Germany. It is a place for family holiday and school trips. Children have a chance to learn about natural phenomenon and expand their knowledge about geography.

The seafront and the LandTours enrich many tourists and encounter them in the nature.
