The city of Cologne (German: Köln, Colognian: Kölle) is the fourth-largest city in Germany with more than ten million inhabitants and situated on both sides of the Rhine river in North Rhine-Westphalia. It hosts a huge variety of museums and galleries and is famous for it Cologne Cathedral (Kölner Dom), which is the city’s landmark. It is a Gothic church, built between 1248 and 1880. As it’s being continuously restored and appears to always be under construction legends say that the world will go down the day that Cologne Cathedral is finally finished.

About Cologne Carnival:
“Once a year, the streets of Cologne fill with people in colourful costumes, and the entire city turns into one big party! The Carnival season (known as the ‘fifth season’ in Germany) starts in November, but the main celebrations takes place from Fat Thursday to Ash Wednesday each year, traditionally marking the start of Lent. People stream in from all over the world to dress up, see spectacular parades featuring elaborate floats, and generally have a good time! The lively Zülpicher Straße, home to lots of bars, is a great place to start.” (Source: German Missions in the UK)

About the Kölsch:
Kölsch is a special beer brewed in Cologne: ” It’s a light ale und is served in the traditional 0.2 litre Kölsch glasses which are tall and cylindrical.
Drink the Kölsch in an orign “Brauhaus” (the traditional German pub where the beer is brewed). There, the “Köbes” serves the fantastic ale and he serves one after another if you don’t say “no” and put the beer pad on your glass.” (Source: cologne.de )
