Spended a fun-packed session with theatre professionals from The Discarded Nut Theatre Company discovering more about Bertolt Brecht, the German playwright and poet, through the use of slapstick, physical theatre and games. What better way to learn than through laughter!
Brecht made and shaped theatre in a way that had a huge impact upon its development with many of his ideas being so revolutionary, that they changed the theatrical landscape forever. This giant of the theatrical world realised that comedy could be an excellent way of engaging the audience. It’s ‘silliness’ in effect, but often makes strong social comment in the way it’s used in the treatment of a serious subject.
